HVAC Rooftop Unit (RTU) Lift: Step-by-Step

HVAC sets are among the most common boom truck jobs in DFW. When the crew is prepared, they are also some of the most efficient.

Before the lift

We confirm the unit weight, roof height, street access, and landing location before mobilization. Mechanical contractors should have curbs, disconnects, and roof path protection ready before the truck arrives.

If the setup area is tight or traffic control is needed, we factor that into the lift plan ahead of time.

During the lift

Once the truck is staged and outriggers are set, the operator works with the ground crew and rooftop team to guide the RTU into final position. Communication has to be clear and direct the entire time.

The faster the rooftop team can receive and secure the unit safely, the faster the site turns back over to the trades.

After placement

A good crane partner does not just drop the load and leave. We stay coordinated through the placement so the receiving crew gets the unit where it needs to be without rework.

That keeps the project on schedule and avoids the expensive delays that happen when staging or communication breaks down.
